Surf glossary - K: from kick tail to kook

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

Kick Out

You can get out of the wave with a kick out. For this you kick upwards out of the wave.

Kick Tail

The kick tail is not only the bent edge of a skateboard but also the wedge-shaped last tail, the tail pad or grip deck of your surfboard. The Kick Tail gives the surfer additional support when he surfs particularly radical maneuvers.
If you want to pop right at the cutback or Sanp, then your back foot is on the kick tail before the turn starts.

Kook

Although we have all been beginners once, there are still surfers who insult others with this rather ugly word. A Kook is an inexperienced surfer. If you use that word, remember, you also started surfing once.
