Can you travel to Fuerteventura in summer?

Of course you can go on holiday in Fuerteventura in summer. The corona numbers in the Canary Islands are falling as in the rest of Europe. More tourists have been coming to the island since May.

Hello surfer,

Again and again I am asked whether it is possible to go on holiday to Fuerteventura again in summer.
Without any bad ulterior motives, I have to smile a bit at this question, because of course it is possible to spend your surfing vacation here in summer, after all, you can already travel to Fuerteventura without any problems and have a good time here.

Therefore today a blog article is presented as a sedative, because I personally am absolutely confident that there is little to prevent planning your vacation for the coming weeks and months.

We had guests in our surf courses and accommodations all autumn, winter and now in spring

Last autumn, winter and now in spring we have guests here with us in our surf course and in our accommodations. Thanks to the always summery temperatures on Fuerteventura, a large part of life always takes place outdoors, which is why the sun and wind are natural disinfectants here on the island.
In addition, the number of infected people in the Canary Islands was never as high as in many places on the European mainland.

That's why you could move much more freely here on Fuerteventura in autumn and winter than you could comparatively in other countries, because the restaurants and shops were always open and you could do normal sports.

Our surf courses are by and large the same as before, with the only restriction that it is mandatory to wear a mask in our cars on the way to the beach.

There have been no more border closings on the Spanish side since spring 2020

Of course I am also asked: "What if there are renewed border closings?"

The Spanish government closed the borders in spring 2020. Since July 2020, for almost a year, there have been no border closings and there is also no reason to close the border in the summer.

Many other European countries (such as Spain) also closed their borders at the beginning of the pandemic and then reopened them in summer 2020. Since then there have not been any border closings with other European Union countries in Germany either.
The pandemic control systems are now also significantly improved and in Spain as well as in Germany you have to register on the website of the Ministry of Health when entering the country. In addition, unvaccinated people are required to present a negative corona test.

As in all European countries, vaccination progress in Spain and Germany is now very great. The number of newly infected people is falling everywhere. That is why the European vaccination certificate will also come from July 1st, with which many regulations for testing and registration upon entry and return will no longer apply, especially for vaccinated people.

Conclusion

There are a lot of reasons that speak for the fact that this year you can plan and book your vacation for summer and autumn with peace of mind. In addition, there are signs of further facilitation of entry and other hygiene regulations.
