Current regulations for entry, corona test and quarantine when traveling to Fuerteventura

Here is the current status (December 20, 2020) on the regulations for the corona test when entering Fuerteventura and any quarantine when returning to the UK.

Hello surfer,

The past week also threw us back into the "Corona everyday life" here in Fuerteventura.
Yes, it is unfortunately true: The UK and since two days Germany regards the Canary Islands as a risk area again. We as surfers, surf camp operators and of course as private individuals who live in the Canary Islands and have small children, take the pandemic more than seriously.

Nevertheless, it is absurd that you have to be quarantined after returning from Fuerteventura to Germany or the UK.
Why? Here are a few numbers ...

The current 7-day incidence of new infections per 100,000 population is:
on Fuerteventura approx. 10
on the neighboring island of Lanzarote approx. 13
on the neighboring island of Gran Canaria approx. 28

Only on the islands of Tenerife and La Gomera are the numbers of infected people increasing. These islands were "isolated" from the rest of the islands by the Canary Government last week. This means that private travel between the islands is no longer possible. So it is very difficult for the virus to enter the islands with low incidence from there.

Holidays in Fuerteventura are safe!

With a few exceptions, the current incidences in the UK or Germany are likely to be well over 10 times, if not much more.
This means, for example, that if I want to visit my family in Berlin, where the incidence is currently over 200, I have to be in quarantine even though I come from an island where the incidence has been below 20 for weeks ...

From here on everyone can hit their own forehead and shake their head ... Ready? Take a deep breath!

You can only travel to Fuerteventura with a negative PCR test again!

The rule, which was briefly softened by the Canary Islands single-handedly, has now been conceded again by the Spanish constitutional court. From now on, what has been valid since 23.11. was true. You can only travel to Fuerteventura if you have a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours.

There are now many private test laboratories and it is no problem to get tested in time for departure. Write us a short email and we will send you an overview of all private test laboratories in your area.

However, this test regulation also has a great advantage, not only that tourists cannot bring the virus to the islands, you can now also feel much safer on the plane, as only people with negative tests are transported by the airlines.

Conclusion

Thanks to the low incidence (approx. 10 per 100,000 inhabitants) and the strict test rule upon entry, there are currently few places in Europe where you can feel safer from the Corona Virus than in Fuerteventura.
We had it, we have it now and will be normal guests in our courses and accommodations for the next few weeks. The only question: When are you coming?

Merry Christmas and Aloha from Fuerteventura
Your Christof
