The number of infections has been falling for weeks, so it was only logical that the travel warning for the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura was lifted from the UK.

Hello surfer,
Today, in addition to the many rather worrying news, there is really positive news from Fuerteventura:
The UK government has withdrawn the classification as a risk area for the Canary Islands including Fuerteventura.

The accompanying travel warning no longer applies. The new regulation applies from October 24th.

From October 24th Returners from the Canary Islands do not have to be quarantined in the UK.

At the end of July, the UK government classified whole Spain incl. Fuerteventura as a risk area.
So it came to the travel warning for the Canary Islands. The associated obligation to self-isolation and quarantine caused many tourists and of course surfers to suspend their travel plans for the Canary Islands for the time being, or even to cancel or postpone trips completely.

Through stricter regulations for distance and hygiene and better contact tracing, the Canary Islands authorities have succeeded in greatly reducing the number of new infections with the corona virus.

In the case of Fuertevenrura, this means that on an island with around 115,000 inhabitants, the daily new infections are in the low single-digit range and on some days no new infections are measured.

It is to be expected that other European countries will also withdraw their travel warnings for Fuerteventura soon.

At the moment, travel warnings for the Canary Islands are still in effect from other European countries, for example Austria, Switzerland.
In the past, Austria and Switzerland have issued and canceled their travel warnings for the Canary Islands when the number of cases is similar. It is to be expected that the two countries will soon also lift the travel warning for the Canary Islands.

This means that in these countries, too, there is no need to self-isolate if you have been in a risk area.

Conclusion

The number of new infections with the coronavirus in the Canary Islands has steadily decreased in recent weeks. From October 24th Nobody who travels from the Canary Islands back to the UK has to be in quarantine or have a negative Corona test.
