German travel warning for Fuerteventura lifted

Traveling to Fuerteventura will be easier again
Get to know nice people in the surf camp

This means that holidaymakers who return from Fuerteventura in Germany do not have to adhere to a compulsory quarantine after their return.

Hello surfer,

As in the last few weeks, we have another positive piece of news for you today. The travel warning for the Canary Islands and the quarantine that applies after returning from the Canary Islands and thus also Fuerteventura have been lifted.

As in the rest of Europe, the number of newly infected with the Corona Virus is falling steadily. Especially in the two large and populous islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, the incidence of infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days is now well below 40 in some cases. The incidence in Fuerteventura is even below 10.
The incidence of the entire Canary Archipelago has been consistently below 40 for two weeks. The lifting of the German travel warning had therefore been expected for a few days.

Other European countries are ending their travel warnings for Fuerteventura

Recently, the German side no longer issued a travel warning for the Canary Islands and other European countries are again simplifying travel to the Canary Islands and Fuerteventura.

The forced quarantine no longer applies in almost any EU country. Instead, in most countries, there is now a negative corona test, which must be done shortly before the flight home.
Because even the strongest supporters of the measures to protect against Corona (which I also count myself) find it difficult to see a logic or necessity in the fact that although you have to do a Corona test before flying home and can only fly with a negative test, still has to comply with a quarantine.
In addition, you are leaving from an area in which the incidence of new infections is many times lower and in which you could only enter if you had a negative test.

Of course, it is still important to adhere to the rules for distance and hygiene in order not to contribute to the spread of the corona virus.

The obligation to test upon entry and exit will probably remain in place for a while

Even if the end of the German travel warning is finally here, the obligation to test before entering and leaving the Canary Islands will remain in place for a while.

The obligation of a negative PCR test on entry has existed since October 2020 and has been introduced by Spain. The Canary Islands have long wanted this mandatory test, however, in the form of an antigen test or rapid test. It cannot be ruled out that before the Spanish side lifts the obligation to test, it will first be relaxed a bit by also accepting antigen tests for entry into Spain.
I suspect that this will happen in the course of the summer, when more people are vaccinated in the European population, and therefore also the Spanish population.

The obligation to test before the return journey differs from country to country. For the return trip to Germany you need an antigen or rapid test, for Switzerland it has to be a PCR test. These regulations will probably also be simplified and standardized a little over the course of the summer and thus higher vaccination rates.

Even if there are more inconveniences, the obligation to test before the outbound and return flights has also made flying and vacation safer. It has become very unlikely that tourists will bring the corona virus to the holiday destination or bring it home from there.

Conclusion

The German travel warning has been lifted and no matter where you look in Europe, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger. The good news prevails and the number of nine infections with Corona Virus is falling. Thanks to the reliable test strategy when entering and leaving the Canary Islands, the mandatory quarantine was no longer necessary when returning to Germany.
Now vacationing in Fuerteventura will be a bit easier and more relaxed again.
