No quarantine despite travel warning!

Social distancing is not a problem at Fuerteventura's beaches
perfect place for a Fuerteventura surf vacation our surf villa in the surfing village La Pared

Thanks to a recognized PCR test here on site - there is a way how you can travel to Fuerteventura despite the travel warning without having to be quarantined afterwards.

Hello surfer,
what's that for a year? After we all restricted ourselves in the spring and renounced a lot, what is becoming more and more apparent is what virologists had preached months ago. The pandemic is a “natural disaster in slow motion” or a nice quote “the pandemic is a marathon”.

What that means is becoming increasingly clear to all of us. The large European countries classify the Canaries as risk areas with the result that tourism comes to a virtual standstill here. I don't think I need to elaborate on the economic and resulting social upheavals this creates. Suffice it to say, I don't actually have anyone here on Fuerteventura who had a job in the spring ...

But I am also not a conspiracy theorist and I fully accept the decisions of the European governments. It is proceeded with a sense of proportion and the decision criterion of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants is fair and is applied equally everywhere.

Almost no tourists are infected in the Canary Islands

This is due to the fact that the contagions do not take place here in the tourist areas. The strict laws for distance and hygiene are meticulously observed by the large and small accommodation establishments and of course also by the catering industry.

Most of the infections and the resulting high numbers of infected people at times take place in the capitals of the Canary Islands. Especially in the metropolitan area of Las Palmas. This is the capital of Gran Canaria, the neighboring island of Fuerteventura. Here the infections are mainly due to illegal parties by younger locals.

I can't even demonize these illegal parties, I also have a certain understanding of the young people. After all, everyone in Spain had to stay at home for almost 3 months, because there was one of the strictest curfews in the EU.

On Fuerteventura itself, there are comparatively few infections and these tend to take place through family celebrations or illegal parties.

Social distancing is not a problem on Fuerteventura's beaches

Fuerteventura's beaches are never overcrowded, even in normal times, because there are just so many beautiful beaches that you can be almost alone all day on many beaches.

In addition, the sun and wind are the best natural disinfectants. Statistically speaking, the sun on Fuerteventura shines all year round, I have written more than once in this blog;)

If you want to go on holiday in a small surfing village away from the tourist places, I recommend our Surf Villa.

In short, if you adhere to the AHA rules and do not participate in illegal parties or large Spanish family celebrations, tourism on Fuerteventura is still very safe despite the travel warning!
