On some postcards from Fuerteventura one gets the impression that the island consists only of 4 star hotels and romantic fishermen's huts. That's quite a bit, there are tourist resorts, in which especially large hotels determine the landscape. These hotels are not necessarily cheap and they are like a secluded world in which the locals of Fuerteventura appear only as staff.
Then there are the small bays where three fisherman's houses stand. But where do you buy here? Where is a small restaurant?
Of course, there is also a place where the tourism and the lives of the locals mix in a healthy way, for example Morro Jable. There are small apartments houses, apartments and a hostel for tourists. Here vacationers and locals live together.
Hostels for Surfers in Fuerteventura
For us surfers, who travel several times a year, a hostel is often the best option of accommodation. For one thing, hostels are almost always the cheapest way to stay in a resort, and secondly, you can quickly get in touch with other tourists and locals.
There are only a few hostels in Fuerteventura. Some hostels specialize in surfing. There is also a stand for surfboards. Unfortunately, there is no beach hostel right on the beach and the first waves are often reef waves.
The only hostel in the south of Fuerteventura
Our hostel in Morro Jable is the only hostel in the south of Fuerteventura. It is fortunate that there are still many surfers who believe there are good waves only in the north of Fuerteventura.
That's why we need to share our good waves with just a few other surfers.
Back to our hostel. Unlike other hostels, there are no bunk beds in our hostel. There are one and two room. All rooms have a small bathroom and most rooms have a small fridge. Of course there is free wifi and a roof terrace where you can relax.
The great thing about our hostel?
It is not even 200m from the sea. In the bay of Morro Jable you can surf SUP and snorkel. 10 minutes by bike along the beach promenade is one of Fuerteventura's most famous waves - the Cruz Roja. Very moderate waves are often used to learn and practice.
Our conclusion
There is some hostel for surfers in Fuerteventura. Our hostel in Morro Jable is the only hostel in the south of Fuerteventura. It is less than 200m from the sea and each room has a shower and toilet. 10 minutes away by bike is our surf beach Jandia where good waves for beginners and advanced break all year round.
