Surf Camps for Solo Travellers & Singles

Hello, I am Christof. I have been working in different surf camps around the world since 2000. In 2007 I founded the OTRO MODO surf camp on Fuerteventura. We have a lot of solo surfers in our courses and accommodation. Here on site, we focus a lot on a nice community atmosphere. Therefore, in addition to the surf course, we organise community activities for our guests several afternoons and evenings a week. 

You wanna go on a surfing holiday and no one has time to come along. Whether it's siblings, work colleagues, friends, family or partners - it's not easy to match everyone's holiday preferences with your own. 
Even if you have the same interests, that doesn't mean you'll find a shared travel date. 



It often happens that you can take a week's holiday unexpectedly. Or you can only plan this holiday at short notice because of important work projects or family commitments. Most of the time, no one in your friend circle has time for a spontaneous trip together.


I know many people who go on holiday as singles and enjoy it. Most single travellers are very active on site, do a lot of sports and discover the local culture and attractions. However, we are always looking for people to share the experiences of the day with. The saying: "Joy shared is joy doubled" is to be taken quite literally. 

For us surfers, the most important passion is surfing and with it the love of the sea and nature. No matter whether you have just started surfing or have been surfing for a few years. The love of the ocean unites surfers of all levels.



At our OTRO MODO surf camp, you will find it super quick and easy to get to know nice people. Here you will meet other people who are also single travellers for a variety of reasons. What you all share is the love and fascination for the sea. That's how you quickly get into conversation with each other. It's not uncommon to make nice encounters and even long-lasting friendships at the surf camp, far beyond the holiday. 


There are only 12 units in our family-run appartment house by the sea. Most of the surf guests in the house are in our surf courses for beginners or advanced surfers. The individual flats are located directly next to each other on two floors. On the large roof terrace there are benches and tables under a cosy pergola and sun loungers to relax. From here you have a fantastic view of the beach and the sea.  


As a solo traveller, you can quickly get in touch with other residents of the surf camp even after the surf course. You can eat together, relax on the terrace and end the evening with a shared glass of wine or beer. 

The house is located about 30 metres from the small beach and the beach boulevard with its bars and restaurants. You can go to the beach with the other surf students after the surf course for swimming, snorkelling, volleyball, SUP and much more. 
In the evenings, the short walk to the cosy tapas bars and restaurants is inviting. There is often live music here. If you can't sleep, you can go with the others from the surf camp along the beach promenade to neighbouring Jandia, which has several discos.

Less than a minute's walk from Alta Vista is the small cafe "Kuatro70".  Together with the Spanish owners, we organise a delicious joint breakfast for our guests here. 

In the afternoons after the surf course, we offer you and the other surf camp guests different activities. We go longboarding or skateboarding on the beach promenade, sandboarding on the big dune between Morro Jable and Jandia or play volleyball on the beach. 

Several times a week, our yoga instructor Jana gives relaxing yoga classes in the evening sun on Morro Jable beach. 

Every week we also hold a surf theory evening at our office in Morro Jable. There is plenty of time to discuss important surfing topics such as tides, wave formation, wave forecasts and currents. And of course we are happy to answer your questions.



In the evenings, we organise meals together in tapas bars and various restaurants on Morro Jable's charming beach promenade. We know the restaurant owners personally. Like us, they have lived in Morro Jable for a long time and some of them even grew up in the village.

Our Surf Villa is located away from the tourist resorts on Fuerteventura's wild west coast. Here in the small surfing village of La Pared, you live to the rhythm of the waves and tides. At the large natural beach "El Viejo Rey", good waves break all year round for beginners and advanced surfers. In the neighbouring small bay "La Bahia" there is an excellent restaurant. 
From our surf villa it is only a short walk to the fine sandy beach and the small bay.



Our Surf Villa is situated on a 1000 square metre property, with a turquoise swimming pool as its centrepiece. Here you can relax and refresh yourself together with the other surf guests. 

Around the swimming pool are a large appartment "Aire", a cosy studio "Agua" and a rustic bungalow "Fuego". In the upper part of the villa in the Canarian garden there is another small appartment "Tierra", which has a private little terrace with sea view. 

All appartments, the studio and the bungalow have their own bathroom, kitchen and private sitting area where you can relax. 

There is a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen with a pizza stone oven for shared dinners under the stars. There is also a sauna for chilly winter evenings.



For a small extra charge, you can also book yoga classes with our yoga teacher Lisa. The yoga takes place on the yoga platform in the garden. 

We have many solo travellers who come to surf with us. Many of these single surfers also happily visit us a second and third time. They appreciate the uncomplicated way in which they come into contact with nice people at the surf camp, during the surf course, in the accommodation, at our leisure activities and the joint dinners. These contacts often lead to good encounters and even real friendships afterwards.
